Coachella~
Bloc Party - they have a couple good tracks, but in general the singers voice annoys me. Drew a HUGE crowd for the tent they were in, should have been on a bigger stageKeane - Great music to sleep to on a hot, sunny day!Rilo Kiley - mellow indie rock, really chill to listen to, lots of crazy young girls with strange antics watching the showSage Francis - THEE best hip hop show I have ever seen, hands down. I was pretty familiar with his style, but he really pulls out all of the stops that make a live show memorable. He was a comedian, a hearty performer, and delivers a really powerful message you can't ignore. I love intelligent hip hopHernan Cattanio - A few of the people we were with couldn't stop raving about this guy but I found his music trite, and boring, so I didn't last very long at all Weezer - A huge disappointment. Started the set with a new slow song, and the act didn't pick up one bit. Played the favorites but put absoloutly no effort into entertaining the crowd.Black Star - this is Mos Def and Talib Kweli, and I didn't even know this until we arrived into Palm Springs. They closed the event on the Sunday night and played at the same time as The Prodigy so thats where 80% of the crowd was. You could tell it was being killed by the Prodigy crowd, but you wouldn't be able to tell from the performance these guys were giving. Even Kweli with half a voice was up there rhyming his ass off! Al and I went up close, and were really into it, the perfect way to close the show with his arms wrapped around me. Despite being fined, they even threw down an extra track and would have continued had the sound not been cut... I was really stoked on this show for sureZTrip - Al intro'd me to Ztrip about a year ago, and we watched his whole set right from the start. He's a really talented dj, thats for sure... and I was really loving it when he threw down Janis Joplin over a nice fat beat. Last Coachella he brought out Beck... this year he treated us with a song with Chester from Linkin Park. I would have liked it if he had a longer set, but he jam packed it with goodies for the crowdColdplay - I am totally drawn in by a nice voice, and the piano, and Coldplay didn't disappoint me. Al and I laid in the grass while he crooned over the ivories to our delight. It was a really bautiful show, and I really enjoyed itNINE INCH NAILS: I was excited to see NIN, but didn't fancy myself a huge fan. I started listening to them when the Fragile double disc came out, and to this day listen to those 2 cd's more than any other NIN in our cd books. It was the only time through the whole festival our whole group watched any band perform, and lemme tell you... I was STOKED. They opened with The Fragile. It's my fave track of theirs. The more and more they played, the more excited I got and the more I went off. And I TOTALLY went off. I was thrashing myself all over the place and screaming my head off. Al said I "won the award for loudest, crazyiest person in our vicinity for sure". The show took me by surprise because I wasn't expecting to be SO excited and into it, but the more they played the more anxious I got and the more I got into it. The only show I have ever been that into was Mudvayne and that was almost 3 years ago... it felt realllllllllly gooooood. Apparently I looked like a freak, but I'm alright with that 100% :DI'm going to quite my monkey on his last thought in his journal because it totally made my day.... "I eagerly await me and Trina's next vacation where it'll be someplace like Hawaii or Mexico, nice white sandy beaches, scorching heat, surfing, snorkeling, and the biggest decision of the day will be what colour umbrella I want in my drink. Cheers to the future"
